My Father arrives in Argentina

My father,Jack Rush,,came to Argentina in 1939 but at the time he felt guilty because England was at war and he had not been able to enlist due to a hearing problem.His brothers,however,did.One of them died in the war.He was killed by a bomb.His name was Dump.Some years later, he convinced his other brother,Joe to come to Argentina and found him a good job at a sugar factory.My uncle Joe and all his family travelled by ship bringing all their belongings with them.His sister,unfortunately did not want to come and remained in England until her death some years ago.

My Family

I love my family very much.We are six:three brothers,mysister,my mother and myself.My family is a little different from others here in Argentina.My father was born in Southampton,England and went to school there.He is and has been very important in my life and I have always admired him.He came from a very poor family.His father worked at the docks and his mother died at the age of thirty two.His brothers could not study;they had to work hard to make ends meet.However,my father was very lucky.He was,then,not only a very good student but quite intelligent.Professor Cock(a teacher at school and University) gave him a scholarship and in this way my father was able to go on with his studies,which he did.He graduated at the University of London where he read English.A year or two later he got a post at the University of Nottingham.The newspapers of the time published advertisements for available jobs in some countries.One was fo Rumania and the other was for Argentina. in the University of Tucumán as the Faculty of Arts had just been founded.He was contracted to teach English Language and Literature.Later,he founded the English department and became its Head.For many years my father worked very hard at the University and brought many native teachers to the English Department such as Professor Hornby,the Linguist Uldall and others and the English Department was the best in the country.
